Each month I take the challenge given on the website paintandrawtogether.com

This month it was a study of a brightly covered chair with patterned cushion close to a very detailed carpet.

My Painting.

I chose to do my painting in water color but I think acrylic paint would have been better to get the more intense color this painting needed.

It was a difficult study as just getting the pattern correct let alone the right colors was difficult. I also found the composition somewhat peculiar. Your eye is drawn to the highly colored carpet in the foreground rather that to the chair, the focal point. So I took the carpet out and put a cat on the chair instead. In my house there is always a cat on the chair so it just had to be.
